FRANKLAND RIVER RIESLING
This very enjoyable Riesling has fresh floral fragrances and typically from the region a sweet tasting floral palate from the fruit. The finish is bone dry of sugar with moderate acidity, balanced and crisp. It is an apparently uncomplicated yet well structured wine with all of the desirable elements in place; vibrancy, freshness, flavoursome, food-friendly and easy drinking.
A low alcohol of 12.5% v/v makes this an excellent lunchtime choice for cafes and restaurants, perfect for summer and beyond.
The Frankland River region is in south-west Western Australia inland near to the town of Manjimup with a cool climate influenced by the Southern Ocean. Carved out by the river and it's tributaries over millions of years, the region typically has heat retaining gravelly and granitic rich sandy loam topsoils, overlaying a moisture retaining clay loam subsoil.
Air-flows from the valley slopes to and from the Southern Ocean provide a favourably modifying effect on the climate at the critical times of the year for winegrape growing. The climate and geography of the broader Great Southern appellation is renowned for producing many stupendous white wines.
